Celebrating 10 years of rallying collective intelligence to co-create sustainable societal impact

2023 Annual Report

quote

We believe the world’s most important and complex societal issues are best solved when we address them collectively.

Nicholas Brooke
CEO & Founder The Synergist

This belief has been 10 years in the making. When we started tackling societal issues such as maternal health and dengue fever 10 years ago, our idea that we could bring together people from all walks of life and harness this collective expertise and momentum to actually solve the world’s most challenging societal issues was still a germinating seed in the ground, an idea to be nurtured and tested.

10 years on, our growing global community across collaborative programs in ever-expanding areas such as patient engagement, personalized healthcare, women’s health, and sustainable wellbeing have demonstrated that this vision is not only possible, it is a proven success that can be replicated and scaled to tackle other pressing societal challenges that we face today.

To learn more about how The Synergist serves as the backbone organization driving collective action and creating sustainable impact, .

The Synergist organization serves as a backbone, bringing together people and institutions to tackle complex societal issues.

As an independent, neutral partner, we coordinate diverse stakeholders to collaborate effectively.

However, creating lasting impact takes more than just bringing people together—it requires thoughtful investment in structuring collaborations, developing the necessary skills, and building experience. We’ve organized key elements of this approach, ensuring that our efforts are grounded in a strategic framework.

Below, we explore the cardinal points that guide our day-to-day work, showing how we complement our strong beliefs with the expertise, tools, and acumen required to transform these beliefs into real societal impact.

To achieve sustainable societal outcomes,

The Synergist follows a holistic approach that combines purpose, strategy, and ideas.

This model is built on four pillars:

Changing mindsets
by fostering collective intelligence and non-competitive environments

Running initiatives with true business acumen
through tools, systems thinking, and robust platforms

Embracing complexity
by listening, nurturing diversity, and moving from linear to non-linear thinking; and finally

Being purpose-driven
with a shared vision and altruistic commitment to creating lasting impact. These elements work together to break conventions and drive meaningful change.

The Synergist equips each organization with a comprehensive set of

tools, methodologies, and supporting functions to drive collaboration and impact.

This framework includes essential supporting functions like finance, IT, and management software, as well as dedicated tools such as patient engagement frameworks and online repositories.

Our digital network serves as a powerful platform for connecting stakeholders around critical societal issues, while proprietary methodologies ensure a structured, evidence-based approach. Central to our approach is systems thinking, which allows us to understand how the individual components work together to achieve greater societal impact.

Each organization within The Synergist is designed to

operate with a blend of dedicated resources and shared services.

As illustrated, each initiative is equipped with its own:

Governance

At The Synergist we believe in the causes and topics we address and work towards the end goal independent of external support and funding.

We strive to keep projects alive because of our belief in the necessity of their success, investing our resources and effort even when the support is dwindling.
